I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute.
I am continuing advanced training towards a Masters in Humanistic Psychotherapy.
I work within the ethical framework of both the BACP and the UKCP.
I have experience working in a range of therapeutic settings, delivering short- and long-term therapy. Some areas I have experience working with include:
Anxiety - Depression - Sexual trauma - Grief and loss - Neurodivergence - Relationship issues - Self-harm - Work & Family conflict - Trauma - PTSD - Low self-esteem - Abuse - Suicidal ideation - Bereavement - Domestic Abuse.
Prior to retraining, I spent a decade working in the charity sector, championing the rights and needs of marginalised groups.
I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and strive to create an anti-oppressive, inclusive practice by being attuned to the dynamics of difference between client and therapist and how each of our sociocultural contexts might be impacting our present-day relationship.
I believe that we are intrinsically social beings and that we come to understand and shape who we are in relationships. This means so often the issues we encounter are rooted in relationships too: relationships with ourselves, with others and with our contextual environment.
It is this belief which drives my relational approach to counselling. I centre the therapeutic relationship as a powerful vehicle for change. I am curious about how it is to be ‘in relationship’ with a client as this can provide insight into relational patterns beyond the therapy space.
Finally, it is often how we relate to ourselves that offers the greatest insight into our beliefs about ourselves, others and the world.
